Presented by the CORN Bread Community Gun Club
What does safety look like when it comes to firearms, and how can we talk about them without undue fear? Join us at artfarm for a grounded, beginner-friendly workshop where we learn about firearm safety, unpack a bit of the history around use of force, and explore simple de-escalation principles in supportive company.
This session is designed for people who may be curious, cautious, or unsure about guns — including queer, Black, brown, and other marginalized folks — and want a non-intimidating space to understand how firearms work, how to interact with them safely, and what safety practices look like in everyday life.
We’ll start with basic principles of how firearms function and why safety matters, move into a brief, movement-centered look at where and how force has been used in different contexts, and close with a practical discussion of how to stay safe and calm in situations involving potential conflict. Afterward, there will be an optional sign-up for beginner range time with supportive instructors for anyone who wants hands-on practice in a controlled environment.
All are welcome — no prior experience required.
